Honeybees And The Human Food Chain
Last night on 60 Minutes, Steve Kroft did an interesting segment on how important honeybees are to the quality and quantity of food produced in the United States, and presumably the world. Apparently the bees are disappearing in large numbers across the globe. Scientists and bee keepers are working together to determine why this is happening. There are no scientifically supported explanations yet. However neonicotinoid based pesticides, manufactured by Bayer Cropscience, used on certain crops seem to be a contributing factor. I thought it was worth sharing.
